How many gdiapers

How long did it take you to figure out how to get a proper fit with gDiapers? Have you gotten anything resolved with more tweaking? Thanks for your helpful response! I also have 12 newborn Alvababy snap diapers.

I will definitely be using the cloth inserts after the first few days, as the costs of the disposables will be heavy in the beginning. Thank you so much for this post! Tinys are going pretty quickly on ebay, but Diapers. Like the liners, or like the gpants? Thanks so much for the detailed information on tiny gpants! This is exactly what I needed and was not getting from their own website. Thanks again! I just had twins in August and we ordered the new baby bundle just for the tiny gpants.

Gdiapers were one of the only companies I could find that offered small cloth diapers for tiny babies without being really expensive. We just kind of new our babies would be small because they were twins one was 6lbs. The other was 5lbs. We ordered one set and ened up ordering another right before they were born.

So we have 24 and I wash them every other day. They have worked really well for us. We have only used the disposable inserts a handful of time. We use organic prefolds in preeme size which are way less expensive and sometimes the gcloths. If there is just pee in the diaper we wipe out the inside and set out to dry to use again.

If poop is on the diaper we rinse it and throw it in our wet bag. We have had several pee throughs that have resulted in clothing changes but never any poop blow outs! They are long and skinny so we might get a little more use out of the tiny gpants even though they weigh more than recomended. I am so happy we found tiny gpants so that we did not have to use disposables for the first 10 weeks of their lives.

Solving leaks As with all diapers, leaks are bound to happen now and then. Red marks and indentations Indents and light red marks are normal and not cause to worry.

If your baby has deeper or painful-looking red marks, however, check the following: gPants may be over-tightened. Here's a handy guide to washing and caring for our gPants , Pouches , and Cloth Inserts. For additional care information about our cloth inserts, visit our guides to Cloth Insert Care and Stripping Cloth Inserts.

Washing gPants and Pouches gPants only need to be washed when they get dirty or soiled, not every time your baby wears them. For gPants, line dry out of direct sunlight or machine dry. For pouches, air-dry they'll dry in minutes! Avoid excessive hand-washing of pouches. No bleach, no vinegar. Storing and Washing Cloth Inserts We recommend a couple options for storing dirty Cloth Inserts until laundry day: Dry pail method: Sprinkle baking soda at the bottom of a dry pail to help prevent odors and place soiled diapers in a covered pail do not pre-soak.

A large bucket with a lid works perfectly for this. Wet bag method: This is a waterproof, zipped bag that you fill with soiled diapers. On laundry day, dump the contents out of the bag and into your washer, and then throw your wet bag in too!

Cloth Inserts require a bit more specialized care than gPants. Here's how to clean them: Wash your cloth inserts separately in the machine on hot do NOT wash with gPants and pouches which require a cool or warm machine wash. An extra rinse at the end of the cycle will help ensure all detergent is rinsed out of the cloth inserts.

Machine dry on medium, or line dry. A dry bath towel in the dryer with them will help remove some of the moisture and significantly cut down your drying time! Avoiding and treating stains Try to keep in mind that stains are normal when dealing with diapers, and they do not indicate that the diapers aren't clean.

Laying them out in the sun while wet can bleach them white again, naturally! Laundry detergents For gPants and Pouches, you can use your choice of detergent - the same kind you use on the rest of your family's laundry is fine. Cloth Inserts, on the other hand, require a little more thought. Here's a guide to washing detergent for cloth diapers: Avoid detergents with added softeners, whiteners, brighteners or enzymes.

What is important is that the liner gets a good seal. I think they fit pretty universally. Its as easy to change as a disposable diaper. Again, I don't really use the disposable pads much but I never thought comfort was a problem with them.

Certainly not with cloth inserts. There is a bit of learning curve in terms of fit, but I've been very happy with our Gs overall.

Cloth diapering is great for your LO and much easier then most people imagine. Gs have the extra flexibilty of being able to use disposable liners on the go and cloth at home, as well. And they are really cute. I started out with 6 mediums for my daughter, now I'm up to 10 mediums. I think is sufficient though. I also have 8 larges for my daughter as she's in that size now and have 9 smalls ready for my soon-to-be-born son.

Like the other poster, I usually only wash the outer cloth gpant when I feel it is dirty, so I usually get a bunch of uses out of them before laundry day. Of course if the pant gets soiled before then which is rare , I'll wash it earlier. You can use whatever best fits your lifestyle and financial situation. That's the great thing about gdiapers is that they are versatile this way Up to this point, I have been solely a flushable user, which does cost more than disposables, but it's way better for the environment!

I am hoping to try cloth soon for my baby boy due in Jan as well as my almost 2 year old daughter though. When I attempt cloth, I will wash them myself. And there are many cloth options And yes the flushables really can be flushed or just tossed as they're biodegradable , but you need to make sure your toilet can handle it not a septic tank or root infested plumbing and there's a technique to doing it correctly so you don't clog your toilet.

Definitely read on the gdiaper website FAQs they have videos too for info on how to flush. The gdiapers should fit fine around the waist and shouldn't be pulled too tight like a disposable. Otherwise you might break the inner seal and cause leaks. Like the other poster mentioned, the key is getting a good seal with the inner liner and it needs to be in the crease of the leg. Again the gdiaper website has lots of good info. This is probably the biggest learning curve with gdiapers for new users Just keep trying until you get that good fit.

Also what age is your daughter? Sometimes especially for newborns, they can't fit into gdiapers at first because they need to reach the weight limit of smalls 8 lbs and they do need some chunk to their legs to help with the seal.

Usually this isn't a problem for older babies. I find it really easy to change my daughter in and out of them. Of course it takes some practice at first, but I also keep my gdiapers "pre-loaded" with a flushable insert inside them ready to go, so it's easy to just switch the diapers in and out each change.

I have never noticed my LO be uncomfortable with the flushable insert or "pad" as you called it. Yes I would definitely recommend them to a disposable user if you are concerned about the environment and want a great alternative. Or as someone who is interested in cloth diapering, but yet is hesitant to make that first step, gdiapers can be a great introduction to that world. I was solely a disposable user and I am enjoying my transition to the cloth world through gdiapers, even though I don't use cloth inserts yet.

You can buy flushables cheaper though by buying them by the case 4 at a time as you usually get a case discount. I don't think BRU gives case discounts though, so you would need to either buy them somewhere else Whole Foods for example or online to get this. There are sales going on all the time and you can find flushables for good deals if you search around.

Plus people are selling their used gdiapers on there all the time, so you may find a great deal there yourself! I get these as a promotional thing from gdiapers to share with new, interested moms. That was incredibly informative, Melissa - thanks so much! I just saw that BRU is having a sale on them, and I do actually have a coupon for a starter kit as well thanks for offering though! I do really like the concept of them, and would love to be more environmentally friendly.

I guess I'll have to try them out! I think we have 8 of the size she's in small and it's way more than we need.
